In order to upload a distribution / contact list into your Fugent account, you will first need to save your spreadsheet as a XLS, XLSX, or CSV file type.
Only 3 columns necessary to import into Fugent:
First Name, Last Name and Email Address, placed in three separate excel columns.
Tip: In order to further segment your contact list, include a column for company name, broker/dealer affiliation, zip code, etc.
Start by navigating to the Contacts tab in your Fugent account.
Select, Import Contact List on the left sub menu.
You will now be asked to choose the correct file saved on your computer.
Be sure to import the file previously saved on your computer for import.
Next you will choose if the selected Excel sheet has Row 1 designated with Headers/Titles present. If so, select Yes.
The only columns necessary for import are First Name, Last Name, Email Address. See the screenshot below. Once completed, click Next.
Note: Uploading an excel sheet will take less time if you leave all other additional fields blank. However, if some of this data is important to have in your Fugent Contacts, choose the Fugent Value field to the right of the Sample Data Value to correctly match up the field in Fugent Contacts.
You will now be asked to import the contacts on behalf of another user you are delegated admin access for. If not, keep No selected.
You can either import these contacts into an existing or new group within Fugent. See the screenshot below.
After reviewing, click Next at the bottom of the page.
Your sheet is now being imported into Fugent. Once completed, you will be redirected to the main Contacts page.
Additional Tips for Importing a Distribution List
Ensure Information is Formatted Correctly
Ensure that each piece of information has its own cell. For example, the first name and last name of each contact should been in its own cell. You will not be able to import a file that has the first name and last name in the same cell.
Check for and Delete Hidden Columns or filters enabled
The system will not be able to upload spreadsheets with hidden columns/rows with filters enabled.
Split large spreadsheets into multiple files
If you have greater than 2,000 contacts, you will want to split your list into multiple files/sheets and submit the import requests separately. By doing so, you cut down on the time it takes to import the file.
