When creating a PowerPoint presentation for use in a Fugent meeting, it’s OK to decorate your presentation, but try to keep it simple.
Using the themes MS Office provides will help you in having complimentary background & fonts and colors. Try to only use ONE font throughout the presentation, using bold or italics for emphasis. Be consistent, if you bold the title on page 1, bold it on every page.
Using images help people remember information. For example if tell your audience something is 20 by 40 feet there is a low chance they will remember those numbers. If you say it’s the size of a billboard & you show a billboard, you increase the chances of your attendees remembering the size.
Clip Art is a great feature, but everyone with MS Office has access to the same clip art so your presentation can look tired if you use it. It is better to use original images if you can.
When using animation, just keep it appropriate, adults tune out if it’s too much. The following animations are supported and we strongly recommend only these are used:
Entrance: Appear, Crawl In, Fly In, Peek In, Expand, Fade, Fade Zoom, Spinner, Stretch, Credits, Magnify, Spiral In, Swivel
Emphasis: Spin
Exit: Contract, Fade, Faded Zoom, Curve Down, Light Speed
